Make Sleep Lines A Thing Of The Past

Did you know the second cause of wrinkles is sleeping? After sunlight and UV exposure, squishing your face overnight into a pillow is like ironing wrinkles into the skin. First things first, let's try to prevent those pesky lines from forming. The repeated pressure from pillows and mattresses pushing and pulling on your skin can lead to sleep wrinkles over time. 1) Start by sleeping on your back

If you sleep on your back instead of sleeping on your side, your face doesn't get smooshed by the pillow. While it's a good option, it's hard to stay on your back all night, nearly impossible. Most of us don't wake up in the same position we went to sleep in, and that's normal; however, that still leaves you waking up with sleep lines across your face.

2) Swap your regular pillowcases for satin ones

A silk or satin pillowcase is an ideal option for fighting sleep lines. The less time your skin spends gripped onto your pillowcase, the lower your chances of creases and imprints. The slippery fabric allows your skin to gently glide off instead of being mushed and smooshed.

3) Use a sleep mask

Many of us have sleep masks lying around and never make use of them. Now's the time! The idea behind a sleep mask is that it holds the skin in place and prevents creasing from happening. This is probably a more accessible option to avoid sleep lines in the first place and might even help get you a better night's sleep. You might look silly, but hey, preventing sleep lines is worth it. Even if there is a lot of pressure on your face while you sleep, your skin won't fold in on itself with a sleep mask.

4) A neck pillow

We've all seen those travel neck pillows for a long flight or car ride that go around your neck. It turns out those bad boys are a great option to avoid sleep lines! Neck pillows stop the skin on your face from coming in contact with the pillow, and no contact means no wrinkles. You can use your neck pillow on top of your regular pillow and use it to win the fight against sleep wrinkles.

5) Slow down aging with an SPF

By now, you should be in the habit of wearing an SPF daily! The best way to slow down the skin's aging process is by using sunscreen. If you can't commit to a silk pillowcase or use a sleep mask, at least use SPF daily!
